Blower Door Test
The road to an Energy Smart Home begins with an Energy audit. An Energy Efficiency Audit can be a simple walk through the house to check the major components of Energy Efficiency, this would be called a “Clipboard Audit.” However, in some situations it may be a good idea to do a more involved Comprehensive Energy Audit that utilizes sophisticated diagnostic equipment and produces a detailed report.
Audit: This is a good place to start in most situations. This Free Audit takes just a few minutes and covers the major components of the home that contribute to Energy Efficiency, including a thorough check of the home’s Thermal Boundary (Insulation and Air Barrier). Then we will present you with a management plan that includes the projected savings that can be expected from the improvements. If this Clipboard Audit does not sufficiently address the needs of the home it may be necessary to do a Comprehensive Energy Audit.
This is a comprehensive check of the entire house. We employ sophisticated diagnostic testing to determine the overall performance of the home as it relates to energy usage. We use a Minneapolis Blower door to test the infiltration rate. We also test the combustion appliances, including the furnace, stove and water-heater, to ensure that they are running efficiently and safely. We utilize a Flir Thermal Image Camera to help identify all problem areas. We also build a computer model of the house using REM DESIGN software. This program is used to project the savings you will see from the proposed solutions. You will receive a full report that includes the audit's findings and proposed energy improvements as well as projected savings.
